From An Old Friendster Blog

Logging-in to my Friendster today, I came across My First Blog Ever, then powered by Friendster (obviously) and TypePad. First post was dated July 19, 2005. I thought to myself, if only I have blogged continuously and consistently, even at Friendster, I would have thousands of posts by now. But I guess it didn’t appeal to me much that time, primarily because I was EMPLOYED then and naturally didn’t have much time in my hands as I have now.

I’ve been out of work for a long time. Me — an economic and social parasite, feeding off on someone’s hard labor, hard-earned money.. sometimes I feel like I don’t deserve to eat, much less blog…because I’m not contributing to the country’s workforce.. :( But anyway, even if this article doesn’t apply to me anymore , I believe people reading this– which, I’m sure are highly-productive and useful people unlike myself.. :( can relate to it..
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN YOU AND YOUR BOSS
When you take a long time, you’re slow.
When your boss takes a long time, he’s careful.
When you don’t do it, you’re lazy.
When your boss doesn’t do it, he’s too busy.
When you make a mistake, you’re an idiot.
When your boss makes a mistake, he’s only human.
When doing something without being told, you’re overstepping your authority.
When your boss does the same thing, that’s initiative.
When you take a stand, you’re being bull-headed.
When your boss does it, he’s being firm.
When you overlooked a rule of etiquette, you’re being rude.
When your boss skips a few rules, he’s being original.
When you please your boss, you’re apple-polishing.
When your boss pleases his boss, he’s being supportive.
When you’re out of the office, you’re wandering around.
When your boss is out of the office, he’s on business.
When you’re on a day off sick, you’re always sick.
When your boss is a day off sick, he must be very ill.
When you apply for leave, you must be going for an interview.
When your boss applies for leave, it’s because he’s overworked.

wow! I want to print that out and hang it on the bulletin board at work… lol
I’ve been employed for just over 2 decades at the same factory working for bosses that fit that so unbelievably it’s almost scary!
After these 20 years I can honestly say that I actually don’t feel like I’ve contributed to anything but the politicians and the company owner’s bottomless pockets by being employed… Guess I’m trying to say that I can see where you are coming from with what you said about feeling like you are not contributing… I can see how a person could feel that way, but on the other hand I look at me in my situation and I feel like I’ve dedicated myself to my occupation for more than half my life for basically nothing but dollar signs… or something.
It also makes me think about how you are doing the most important job in the universe… You’re A MOM! That is a much more important job than anything in the workforce!
… hope your Wednesday is better than your Tuesday! :)
hi there victor! :) congratulations for enduring over 20 years at work with bosses of that sort..lol.. wow! :) your dedication is astounding. you should get loyalty awards or something.. :) i just hope you weren’t on night shift all those 20 years..
yes, being a mom is definitely one if not “the” most important job in the universe, more challenging than anything i ever did..the thing about being a stay-at-home mom, you get to see results fast..as opposed to working in the industry where most of the time, your efforts seem unrewarded and therefore not fulfilling..but just the same, people work for many reasons and as long as the reason is good enough, work shouldn’t be seen as a chore, rather as small steps towards the realization of a dream no matter how small that dream is.. :) cheers to you victor! wishing you realize your dreams sooner than you expect.. :)
I just hope my boss won’t be the same as that.. LoL
hahaha..yes angelo..pray that you don’t get one like that..:)
