** The following post has been inspired by a commenter by the name of Lloyd, a soliloquist blogger from Davao. Thank you for your comment Lloyd. This post is my response to the question he raised in my post "So This Is How It Feels Like: Page Rank 3". I hope he finds this useful. **
Hi there! If you got to this post through a search in Google, please let me know by leaving your comments at the end of this post. I would appreciate it if you can tell me what keywords you typed as well. God knows I'm dying to hear that. And I'd faint instantly if I ever even see five, yes five comments confirming that. You see, more than anything known to me, I think this blog is more an experiment than an outlet of personal thoughts, opinions, reviews and frustrations. Of course, I'd like to believe that all I care about in terms of this blog is all the fun I get in telling "mini-stories" of my experiences that most likely don't matter to a lot of people (heck, maybe even to me..lol) but subconsciously, I feel that I also blog to test myself and see if "an old dog really is incapable of learning new tricks". For those of you still clueless as to Continue reading →
The 2008 SONA (State of the Nation Address) is over and done. What now? If you don't mind, I'd like to quote and examine a few statements given at the SONA a follows:
"Many in this great hall live privileged lives and exert great influence in public affairs. I am accessible to you, but I spend time every day with the underprivileged and under represented who cannot get a grip on their lives in the daily, all-consuming struggle to make ends meet."
Oh, you bet. Many. Many of which, also, I'm quite positive, do not care one bit of what you, Madam President have to say in today's SONA. And this is all because they are part of those people you identify in this statement below. Continue reading →
I do. It's so ironic when something that happens only ONCE a year can be so tiring to listen to. Tomorrow's SONA (State of the Nation Address) to be presented (or read--pun intended) by President Arroyo has not even happened yet but as early as now, I already feel a certain level of "exhaustion". Maybe that's because I read a lot of news.
Nevertheless, you may say (yes, I know), if you're really tired of it, then why write more about it? Well, you may have a point there, but that's how I am with something I find tiring or sickening -- I tend to think about it or talk about it pretty much everyday until my brain's short term memory passes the buck to my long-term memory. Okay, the President's SONA is due Monday, July 28 -- so I've heard. I wonder what sort of PowerPoint-style presentation we'll see this time. I'm not a fan of the President's SONA (State of the Nation Address) and I have to admit that I've seen only quite a few. If you want to know why, that's because like many Filipinos, I grew tired of watching/listening to SONA's. And why won't I be? There are far more reasons not to watch it.
But in light of the crisis we have found ourselves in the midst of, it suddenly dawned on me that there is no better time to watch the SONA than on Monday. Continue reading →
Now, this is wrong. Very wrong. I'm not a Gloria fan myself but hey, I won't do such a thing. Not because I'm an elitist (how can I be an elitist when I don't even belong to the "elite" myself?) but because it is indecent, downright dirty and stupid. I mean, come on people! How many times have we seen such display of rudeness? This is not helping anybody. In fact, it is adding problems to our already problematic country. If you want to do protests on the streets, then fine, do it anytime you want but do not destroy, and spray-paint public property! I understand you don't like PGMA, I don't like her either. But hasn't it occured to these people's minds that this is but a waste of time and energy? If you want change, Continue reading →
As a write this post, I am plagued by an annoying and hard to ignore headache. This started at around 2 this afternoon and hasn't stopped until now. And it's almost 11pm. Imagine nine painful hours of consistent and persistent headache. It has made me very unproductive in all the sense of the word (not that I'm really productive when I don't have a headache). Which reminds me of a post I've written a few months back, that was Continue reading →
Many people wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
When I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms,
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
The flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
The joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Men themselves have wondered
what they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them,
They say they still can't see.
I say,
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Now you understand
just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing,
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palms of my hands,
the need for my care.
Because I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's my mother and all your mothers
And my grandmothers and your grandmothers
And my great grandmothers and your greats
And my great greats
And yours
And all you women
And Me!
