I’ve always wondered if this song was composed post-Twitter. My guess it that this song came first. But Uncle Cracker sure as hell was prophetic, wasn’t he?
If Twitter had a theme song, this would be it!
Right now, I’m following almost 2,000 twitters so obviously I can’t seem to keep up with their tweets. Adding more pressure for me to “unfollow” certain people is Twitter’s new “followers” vs. “followed” ratio. Right now, I can’t follow new twitters unless I “unfollow some”. And I’m telling you, it’s so damn hard to choose who to “unfollow”. There’s always this thought that I might miss something if I unfollow one or two of them. :) It’s a continuing daily struggle — this filtering mode I’ve been in these past few days. And right now, I hardly reduced the number of people I follow. Well, good luck to me.
By the way, you might want to follow me on Twitter, too! :)
Maybe part of me is actually a happy stalker after all… :) Meantime, enjoy my edited” version of “Follow Me” by Uncle Cracker.

You don’t know how you met me
You don’t know why,
You can’t turn around and say good-bye “unfollow” me
All you know is when I I’m with tweet you, you jump with free glee
And swim through your veins like a fish in the sea
I’m singing tweeting
Follow me, and
Everything is alright
I’ll be the one to tuck you in at night (good night, twitter…)
And if you want to leave unfollow
I can guarantee
You won’t find nobody else like me
I’m not worried ’bout the ring you wear thousands tweets that you read
just as long as no one knows you’re updated
Then nobody can care
You’re feelin’ guilty
And I’m well aware
But you don’t look ashamed
And baby I’m not scared (stalk me, it’s okay)
I’m singing tweeting
Follow me, and
Everything is alright
I’ll be the one to tuck you in at night (good night, twitter…)
And if you want to leave unfollow
I can guarantee
You won’t find nobody else like me
Won’t give you money
I can’t give you the sky
you’re better off unfollow if you don’t ask why can’t reply
I’m not the reason that you go astray can’t hit the bed
We’ll be alright if you don’t ask me to stay just sign-out instead
Follow me, and
Everything is alright
I’ll be the one to tuck you in at night (good night, twitter…)
And if you want to leave unfollow
I can guarantee
You won’t find nobody else like me
You don’t know how you met me
You don’t know why,
You can’t turn around and say good-bye “unfollow” me
All you know is when I’m with I tweet you I make you free smile
And swim through your veins like a fish in the sea
I’m singing tweeting
Follow me, and
Everything is alright
I’ll be the one to tuck you in at night (good night, twitter…)
And if you want to leave unfollow
I can guarantee
You won’t find nobody else like me
Follow me, and
Everything is alright
I’ll be the one to tuck you in at night (good night, twitter…)
And if you want to leave unfollow
I can guarantee
You won’t find nobody else like me
I’m singing tweeting
Follow me, and
Everything is alright
I’ll be the one to tuck you in at night (good night, twitter…)
And if you want to leave unfollow
I can guarantee
You won’t find nobody else like me

Nice edit, so true it is really hard to stop following once you have started, very right in the feeling that we might miss something.

You see with twitter its the same as facebook…
I jacked 90% of my friends and now Facebook has suddenly become usable again.
I only follow a few people and then every week I drop someone and add someone else

I'm partly at fault about following a lot of people on Twitter and adding virtual friends aggressively on Facebook. I did that when I was just starting with those networks and was looking for interesting people to follow. Now I"m on this painstaking state of ignoring friend invites from people I don't know. It's difficult and it breaks my heart but I've been on these networks for too long to know that the benefits will outweigh the occasional heartaches. :)
