Expectations

So, you’re here to read my blog. I appreciate your visit here and I know that it will probably take you only a few seconds to exit this tab for the next “more interesting” blog that comes to mind or the next one lined up in the search engine results page. So while you’re here, let me tell you what to expect and what not to.

WHAT NOT TO EXPECT:

1. Proof-read articles. I try my best to edit articles immediately after publishing. But I am no expert in proof-reading and copywriting (although I have done a little of those when I was in grade school and highschool– it’s not exactly the professional kind you know). So, you can expect typos here and there, maybe some wrong grammar and poor sentence construction, misspellings and incoherent thoughts in a paragraph, wrong placement and usage of punctuation marks and the like. I am sorry, I am only human. And not a very smart one at that.

2. High-falutin’, eloquent words. Like I said, I’m not a smart-ass. I’m just your regular mom-next-door who just happens to have unlimited internet connection and a lot of time to waste. I am a certified bum — unemployed and useless in this society. I watch the country’s issues unfold from the sidelines. I comment, I rant, I sneer and write about certain issues that may directly or indirectly affect me. I don’t have a Ph. D. , a career, a reputable name…heck, I don’t even have a degree. So, please forgive me if I can’t use unfathomable words in here even if I wanted to. My vocabulary is limited.

3. Brevity. Abraham Lincoln, one of the few American Presidents I have immense respect and adulation for, once wrote “Brevity is the soul of wit.” I strive hard to do observe that in my writing, I tell you. But, the blabber-mouth in me tends to show in how I write. Thus the long, boring posts littered with many unnecessary words and conjunctions that would have not been there had I been given that so elusive gift of brevity. Abraham Lincoln had such a gift. I don’t have that. At least, not yet.

4. Accuracy. Any information you read here, specially the technical, specific, statistical kind has to be verified with more trusted and official sources. Most of the time, I write comments in response to news and other issues which have sensitive information and details like number of casualties or exact percentage of inflation rate etc. I use details sparingly since I know that if you were looking for hard facts, you’d rather visit the news source sites. You came to my blog probably knowing the specifics already so I prefer not to bore you by repeating those. Besides, I write to give my opinion on these issues — not to report details. Let’s leave that to those people who do it better and reputably.

5. Perfection. We all know nobody’s perfect but sometimes the internet can be so unforgiving. And so are some people. This blog obviously is even nowhere near good. But it does not bother me one bit. It is a work in progress. Just as we all are. So if you want a perfect blog, you are welcome to exit this tab.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

1. The exact opposite of those above. Oh yes, I’m being lazy.
