“The Event: Pacquiao vs. Clottey”; where to watch live via pay-per-view (Manila/Calamba)

Updated: March 14, 2010 @ 4pm (PHT)

I would like to apologize to those some 4,000 or more people who tuned in to watch my livestream during the last undercard fight (Soto vs. Diaz ) who were left hanging because the 3G signal suddenly went down for unknown reasons and there was hardly any WiFi signal available so I had to switch to Qik coverage which isn't real-time compared to Ustream.tv.

Ustream  wouldn't let me stream the content, probably due to the poor Edge/GPRS signal I was getting.

Anyway, for those interested, I have recorded 7 videos (highlights) available for viewing at my Qik channel.

****

I'm pretty sure many of you are eager to watch our very own Manny Pacquiao fight against Ghanaian Joshua Clottey tomorrow, March 14, 2010 @ 9:00am (PHT). And what better way to watch it than live via pay-per-view, right?

But if you can't watch it live and you have online access, you may want to check for updates through my live-mobile-blog here.

I will be live-tweeting/liveblogging the event (will login 30 mins. earlier). Live updates will be available here on the sidebar -->> and on my ScribbleLive page so if you can't watch it live, you might want to keep tab or bookmark this post.

Comments will be enabled and related live tweets will also be streamed to make sure you don't miss out on other people's "pacquiao" tweets.

If circumstances will permit, I will try to livestream the event in either of these embedded streams below.

Nacionalista’s Manny Villar kicks off campaign in Calamba, Laguna

This entry is part 39 of 46 in the series The 2010 Presidential Elections

Videos and photos of Nacionalista Party and Manny Villar's campaign kickoff in Calamba, Laguna.

Today is day one of the official campaign period for national elections in May 2010. All roads leading to the main venue of Banga Plaza were decked with orange ribbons, flags and campaign posters. The venue itself which is the common poster area in Calamba was decorated with posters of the Nacionalista Party's senatorial slate. Wowowee TV show host Willie Revillame arrived around 5pm. The event was hosted by Wowowee's Valerie Concepcion and Raymond Gutierrez of GMA 7. Other performers who came to entertain the crowd were singers Yeng Constantino and Bugoy.

Villar's viral campaign jingle "Naging Mahirap" plays in the background alternatively with another jingle "Akala Mo".

Ondoy Victims Missing Persons List / Database

This entry is part 7 of 11 in the series "The Great Flood"

I laud GMaNews.tv for this new project development in support of real-time collaboration and database access. I would like to share the wonderful news that their Ondoy Victims Missing Persons List / Database is now online. This is the kind of vital information that needs to be disseminated as quickly as possible and to as many online audience as possible. As you know, most people turn to search engines during this time as they search for their loved ones and friends affected by the onslaught of Typhoon Ondoy.

Aware of the fact that Google and most search engines favor blogs in their search results page, I decided to publish this here and link to the original article in hopes that doing so will increase the news articles  search results page prominence.

They call this the "Missing Persons Database" or simply MPD.

Do you have a relative, friend, classmate, workmate, neighbor, or acquaintance that went missing during the chaotic weekend of Sept. 26-27 as storm “Ondoy" wreaked havoc on Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon?

Or maybe you happen to be in touch with Ondoy-displaced or stranded people in the process of rescue, evacuation and relief operations, and you want to send word that they are safe and sound? -- GMANews.tv

You can use this in two ways:

1.  CLICK HERE TO FILE A REPORT OR INQUIRY ABOUT A MISSING OR 'FOUND' PERSON

2. CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE MISSING PERSONS DATABASE.

Alternatively, you can view the Typhoon Ondoy Missing Persons on Google Maps here.

This map was created by Franklin Naval and maintained by him and several others, and makes use of GMA MPD data and other missing-persons sources.

Back To Beanstalk

Back To Beanstalk

Back To Beanstalk, originally uploaded by rjmarmol.

Had coffee with Ritchie at Beanstalk tonight. This is after taking time out with his bosses and officemates at a nearby resort. Was only there a few hours, didn't even get to swim, but it's fine. By the way, photo up there is a new offering at Beanstalk Cafe (Calamba), it's called "open-faced roasted chicken salad". Yes, I know the name doesn't sound delicious at all, pretty gross even. I can assure you though that it tastes good. It's roasted chicken drenched in gravy sauce, served on top of white bread and fresh lettuce and chips on the side. This is what I ate together with my Beanstalk staples: caramel macchiato, french fries and banana split. I haven't been there for quite a few weeks, months even, I guess, so it was great to have coffee there once again. For those who want to know, it's located at the rooftop (5th floor) of the new Calamba Executive Center, across the bus terminal at Crossing. The building lies on the Crossing-Halang road that leads to the famous resorts of Pansol, Laguna. Do visit if you're within the area. Shop hours/schedule: Beanstalk Cafe is open Mondays thru Saturdays from 4pm-12mn. Last order taken at 11pm. Check my other previous post about Beanstalk Cafe Calamba here .

Eight Years Strong: If She’s Here, Who’s Running Hell?

No to Conass!I’m pretty sure you’ve heard the numbing, heart-sinking news by now. And I hope mainstream media finally caught up after last night’s unnerving development on House Resolution (HR) 1109, otherwise known as the choo choo train to #conass. Apparently, that term no longer applies because as of last night, the train mutated to a speeding bullet train — proof of how much destruction can happen overnight when we lose vigilance for a moment and choose to be indifferent. Well, what do you know..the revered house can fast-track a bill after all, if they so wanted. While others sleep soundly, those sneaky bastards who sold their soul for a few silver coins are now selling the entire country to the highest bidder (money, position, and everything else). You wake up one morning and boom! You’ve been sold! The height of treachery!

This resolution filed last November 2008 by Congressman Luis Villafuerte of Camarines Sure, who happens to be a kababayan (both of my parents hail from Camarines Sur, Bicol) which was not intended for any other purpose but to ask the Supreme Court on voting procedures by the Senate and the House (how to vote — separately or collectively?) is now being fashioned in a way that may serve the purpose of a select few and  not the benefit of the whole Filipino nation. As of this time, he has declared withdrawal of support to the resolution he himself authored and consequently withdrew from the party as well so he’s now independent, so to speak. Are we seeing moro-moro style tactics here?  Continue reading →

Bonifacio Day 2008 at Calamba: Marked By Street Protests

Late afternoon today (December 1) at Crossing, Calamba City, Laguna, protesters paraded on the street and caused a slight congestion in traffic. Actually, considering how frustratingly narrow the streets in Calamba are, even three people walking leisurely on the main road would be enough to cause one hell of an inconvenience. That is not to say, however, that their demands should be ignored. They have legitimate sentiments that needs to be heard and they raise valid issues that need redressing.

See photos of the protests here. Continue reading →
